2006-2007 VOMBO Scholarships

Instructions to Apply for the Essay Track

Application, Presentation and support materials must be received by February 1, 2007

Non-US residents, please submit information that most closely relates to the requested specifics.

1.  FILL OUT THE VOMBO Online Scholarship Application- Essay Track

2.   SEND US YOUR SOLUTION TO THE FOLLOWING VOMBO  CHALLENGE

No matter the format you choose to use for your creation- the committee also will require an ELECTRONIC version for their viewing.

Challenge:  In a creative way, convey to the appraisers one asset or attribute about yourself that was gained or enhanced through participation in Destination ImagiNation® programs.

Time:  You will have until Midnight (CST) on Weds., February 1, 2006 to submit your application and solution.

The Scene:   ‘Creative’, for the purposes of this challenge, is defined as unique, different, unusual, unexpected, and non-traditional.

Materials:  You may use any materials or methods that can be digitally archived as a document or image.

Scoring:  You will receive

A. Points for creativity.

B. Points for relevancy.

C. Points for creative problem solving participation.

D. Points for correct grammar and spelling (you ARE going to college, after all!)

(Please note that if you choose to use words for your "essay", we ask that you keep to a maximum of 1,000)

3.      SUPPORTING INFORMATION See the 2005-2006 VOMBO Scholarship Announcement for instructions where to send this supporting information.

Along with the challenge solution, Applicants must provide the following. 

a. Two letters of endorsement.  One shall be from a team manager or other adult involved in DI (e.g., school coordinator, or regional director). The other may be from a person of your choice (e.g., school administrator, educator, guidance counselor, clergy, community leader, or teammate). Letters can be on paper, but electronic format is preferred. Letters should be one page (double spaced). Letters of endorsement should accompany the applicant's Presentation (i.e. the next item).

b. Signed  copy of the Essay Track Application Confirmation Page

Please be sure to read and follow ALL instructions on this form and on the 2006-2007 VOMBO Scholarship web pages carefully!  Remember the Committee requires an electronic version of your entry in addition to any other format you choose to send. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to email:  TheScholarshipChairs.

 Be sure to allow adequate mailing time for the materials to reach the committee by February 1, 2007. No late entries will be accepted.
